Schaffhausen is a historic town one hour north of Zurich where the first World Curling Championships will be held. The history of the Men's World Cup dates back to 1959, with a total of 13 of the best men's teams representing their national member associations in the competition.

With Switzerland participating as the host nation, other teams qualified in two different ways. Through performance at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships in Aberdeen, Scotland in November 2023 and the Pan-Continental Championships in Kelowna, Canada in early November 2023.

This competition is not only about world titles and medals, but is also the first of two Olympic Qualifying World Championships. Italy has already qualified as a host country, so a total of seven national member associations will be able to qualify directly for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Other athletes will be eligible to compete in pre-Olympic qualifying events and/or final Olympic qualifying events for the 2025-2026 season.

Italy: Apart from the experienced Joel Letornas, this team has always been at the top of the rankings this season. Retornaz, who will be competing for the 10th time, hopes to improve on the bronze medal he won in 2022.

Japan: Tetsuro Shimizu, who will be competing for the ninth time since his first appearance in 2009, skipped.

South Korea: A new duo skipped by Park Jung-deok, who will be participating for the second time.

Netherlands: Wouter Gesgens absent, making his sixth appearance with the team.

New Zealand: Skipped by Anton Hood. The team, making their second appearance at this level, will be hoping to improve on last year's 13th place finish.

Norway: Skip Magnus Ramsfjell is competing for the fourth time and will be hoping to improve on his fifth place last year.

Scotland: Defending champion and current European champion, Olympic silver medalist was flown by Bruce Mouat in his fifth appearance.

Sweden: Olympic Champion. Niklas Edin, who has won this title six times and is competing for the 13th time, skipped.

Switzerland: Last year's bronze medalist Yannick Schwaller, competing for the third time, did not participate.

USA: 2018 Olympic champion John Shuster was absent, but he is competing for the 11th time and hopes to improve on his eighth-place finish last year.

There will be 20 round robin sessions starting on Saturday 30th March and ending on Friday 5th April. This will determine the top six teams. The 1st and 2nd place teams will advance directly to the semi-finals. Teams from 3rd to 6th place will have qualifying matches on Saturday, April 6th at 10am (3rd place vs. 6th place, 4th place vs. 5th place). The semi-finals will be held from 4pm on the same day.

The bronze and gold medal finals will take place on Sunday, April 7th at 10am and 3pm respectively.

All times are in Central European Summer Time (CEST), except on March 30, which is Central European Time (CET). CEST is UTC + 2 hours and CET is UTC + 1 hour.
